The Municipality is committed to working with residents and visitors to create a safe, healthy, and caring environment for animals and people. The purpose of animal control is to help ensure that owners take responsibility for their dogs' actions so they can be a positive addition to the community.

Animal control does not deal with non-domesticated animals (e.g. bears, skunks, raccoons, etc.). There is no regulation or enforcement of cats in our Municipality.

Dog Licensing

The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula offers lifetime dog tags, available at the Municipal Office. Dog tags are required within 7 days of obtaining a dog for residents who are staying in the community full-time or seasonally.

Dog tag fees are:
- Spayed or neutered $30.00
- Unaltered $45.00

All dogs must be leashed when not on their owner’s property. The only exceptions are off-leash dog parks.
