As per sec. 88(18) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, municipalities are required to establish rules and procedures governing the use of municipal or board resources during an election campaign period.

The Municipal Elections Act (MEA) is the legal framework that governs Municipal Elections in Ontario. The MEA outlines the procedures for the elections, such as nomination and voting processes, voter rights, and regulates fundraising functions and third-party advertisements. The next Municipal and School Board Election will take place on Monday, October 26, 2026.

2026 Election Policies
Use of Corporate Resources during an Election Policy
In accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, the Clerk is responsible for conducting municipal elections and has established procedures under Section 12 of the Act to ensure the fair and efficient administration of the 2026 Municipal Election. These procedures outline the rules and processes that will govern the election and are intended to supplement the Act and its regulations.
In accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, the Municipality has established an Election Sign By-law to regulate the placement, size, and removal of election signs during the election period. This by-law is intended to ensure public safety, maintain community standards, and provide a fair and consistent approach for all candidates and third-party advertisers.
Accessibility Initiatives
In accordance with the Municipal Elections Act and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, the Clerk is authorized to establish procedures and provide appropriate measures to ensure that persons with disabilities can participate fully in the Municipality’s 2026 Municipal Election.

Candidate Financial Statements
As per sec. 88(9.1) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, the Clerk shall make the financial statements of the candidates who filed a nomination available to the public in electronic format. Please see the links below to view the individual financial statements of the candidates. Please note that the financial statements will be updated as they are filed.
Please note that auditor's reports are not required where the total expenses incurred are equal to or less than $10,000 (Section 78(5) of the Municipal Elections Act).
