Utilities

The Municipality provides municipal water to the village of Lion's Head and sanitary sewer service to the town of Tobermory and the Lakewood Country Lane Subdivision. The operation and maintenance of the municipal water and wastewater systems is contracted to the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA).

Water and Sewer

Water and sewer certificates are available by written request. There is a fee per property for this service, as well as a fee for 48 hour rush requests. See our Fees and Charges By-law for current rates.

Water

Residential properties are charged a base rate per meter per year, the billing of which is divided and invoiced quarterly. Quarterly invoices will also include the amount of metered water used during that quarter, at a rate per cubic meter. For current rates, please check our Fees and Charges By-law.

Sewer

Tobermory

Residential properties will be charged annually as set out in the Fees and Charges By-law, the billing of which is divided and invoiced bi-annually.

Retail stores, tourist accommodations, laundromats, restaurants and licensed establishments will be invoiced according to the Fees and Charges By-law.

Lakewood Country Lane Subdivision

Residential properties will be charged annually, the billing of which is divided and invoiced bi-annually.

The Municipality is a member of Ontario One Call and all requests for locates must be submitted through their service.

Ontario One Call is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A locate is always required before digging, even in an emergency.

Payment options for water and sewer related charges:

In person at the Municipality, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by cash, cheque, debit or credit
- Cheques made payable to the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula. Please include your payment stub.

In person, online, or telephone banking with your financial institution

If you would like to connect your property to the Lion's Head Water System or Tobermory Sanitary Sewer System, please complete the appropriate Service Connection Application and submit it with the required fee to the Public Works Department.

Water meters are issued by the Ontario Clean Water Agency once paid for at the Municipal Office. Costs for water meters and their associated parts are included in the Fees and Charges By-law.

As the landowner, you are responsible for contracting a licensed plumber to perform the water meter installation.
