Noise Control

The Noise By-law provides standards for noise and regulates when specific types of noises are prohibited. For the purpose of the by-law, Noise is defined as sound that is of such a volume or nature that it is likely to disturb the inhabitants of the Municipality. For specific details refer to the Noise By-law.
Types of Noise
- Noise from any domestic pet or animal;
- Noise from a radio, public address system, etc. between 11:00 p.m. through 8:00 a.m.;
- Vehicle noise caused by excessive acceleration, squealing of tires, defective or improperly installed muffler system, excessive idling (beyond 20 minutes);
- Construction noise between 9:00 p.m. through 7:00 a.m. (9:00 a.m. on Sundays or holidays);
- Fireworks, unless a permit is granted by the Fire Chief;
- Shouting or loud speaking;
- Domestic tools (lawnmower, chain saw, leaf blower, etc) between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. (9:00 a.m. on Sundays or holidays);
- Unloading or loading of product or materials between 11:00 p.m. through 7:00 a.m. (9:00 a.m. on Sundays or holidays);
- Operation of waste and refuse collection machinery between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. (9:00 a.m. on Sundays or holidays).
