Seasonal Union Position (OPSEU Local 266)


The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula is seeking a friendly and energetic Harbour Assistant to join our Parks and Facilities team in Tobermory. This seasonal position helps ensure the harbour remains safe, clean, and welcoming for residents and visitors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist boaters with docking and fuel services;
  • Provide excellent customer service to visitors and guests;
  • Clean and maintain docks, washrooms, grounds, and facilities;
  • Operate booking and point-of-sale systems;
  • Perform inspections, maintain records, and report issues;
  • Assist with municipal maintenance and emergency response as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Strong customer service and communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and outdoors in varying weather conditions;
  • Basic computer skills;
  • Valid Class G driver's licence;
  • First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.

Hours: 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends
Season: Approximately April to October
Wage: Starting at $25.67 per hour (2026)

Do you enjoy working outdoors, interacting with the public, and helping keep communities safe and welcoming? The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula is seeking a Seasonal By-Law Enforcement / Animal Control Officer to  join our team. This position serves as the primary point of contact for by-law enforcement
and animal control matters throughout the Municipality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce municipal by-laws and parking regulations;
  • Respond to public inquiries and complaints;
  • Prepare warning and compliance notices and issue Provincial Offence Notices;
  • Patrol municipal areas and support court proceedings when required;
  • Investigate animal control matters and assist with stray animals;
  • Promote compliance through education and professional customer service.

Qualifications:

  • Secondary school diploma;
  • Strong communication and organizational skills;
  • Computer proficiency and customer service experience;
  • Valid driver's licence with a clear abstract;
  • Clear criminal record check;
  • Post-secondary education in law enforcement, police foundations, or a related field is considered an
    asset.

Flexible hours up to up to 40 hours per week including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties. Municipal vehicle and uniforms provided.

Wage: $29.66 - $34.09/hour
