Short-term Accommodation Licensing

If you're planning to rent out your home or cottage in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula for short stays (less than 30 days), you’ll need to apply for a Short-Term Accommodation (STA) licence before you get started.

Why a Licence is Important

The licensing process helps make sure short-term rentals are safe, respectful to neighbours, and environmentally responsible—especially when it comes to things like septic systems, fire safety, and waste management.

What Counts as a Short-Term Accommodation?

If you're offering overnight stays at your property for fewer than 30 days at a time (on platforms like Airbnb, VRBO, HomeExchange, etc.), you're operating an STA—and that means a licence is required.

How to get Licenced

  • Apply for a Licence online anytime
  • Have your property inspected and approved by a Municipal Inspector
  • Submit the applicable fees
