Mobile Dental Hygiene Coming to Tobermory!
Bringing Smiles Closer: Mobile Dental Hygiene Service Arrives in Tobermory in September
Residents of the North Bruce now have a new reason to smile! The Tobermory Health Services Auxiliary, have been working in conjunction with the Peninsula Family Health Team to deliver essential dental hygiene services to our community.
Pam Loughlean Executive Director of the PFHT shared “The Peninsula Family Health Team is excited to partner with the Tobermory Health Services Auxiliary to provide local residents with the opportunity to obtain Dental Hygienist services right in Tobermory this September. Shine1-1 is a local mobile dentistry van that will be working out of the PFHT-Tobermory clinic site parking lot starting September 15th. Dental hygiene services that come to our patients where they live instead of the need to travel off the Peninsula is long overdue, and the support of the Tobermory Health Services Auxiliary to bring these services to our backyard is greatly appreciated!
Candace (Candy) McIntyre is a licensed Independent Registered Hygienist who will bring essential dental hygienist services directly to the doorstep of our rural residents. Her mobile dental hygiene service, Shine-1-1 Mobile Dental Hygiene, will be rolling into town, literally, on September 15, 2025 and continuing with Monday bookings. The service vehicle will spend one day each week until the middle of November providing care at the Family Health Team Tobermory site located at 7275 Highway 6, Tobermory.
Shine 1-1 Mobile Dental Hygiene clinic is a fully equipped vehicle with modern dental hygienist technology. Services offered will include cleaning, fluoride protection, oral cancer examinations, dental hygiene education and tooth whitening and Candy will provide direct billing for her service as outlined in the Ontario Dental Hygiene Association Fee Guide.
“The THSA is thrilled to be able to facilitate the funding to bring Candy and the “Shine Bus” to Tobermory through community donations and we welcome this much-needed service to the Bruce Peninsula. We are excited to be able to partner with the Family Health Team to facilitate this project” said Lin Gitterman, THSA President.
