Northern Bruce Peninsula Thanks Province for Continued Support of Seniors Programming

Northern Bruce Peninsula, ON — October 9, 2025

The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula extends its sincere appreciation to The Honourable Raymond Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming of Ontario for their continued support of local seniors’ programming through the Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) Grant Program.

This vital provincial funding allows the Municipality to deliver engaging, inclusive, and health-focused activities that strengthen social connections and enhance quality of life for older adults across the Peninsula.

Celebrating Connection and Community

The 2024–2025 SALC Startup Fund of $12,500 supported the successful launch of new senior-focused programs, including Chair Yoga, Laugh Yourself Healthy, and other events hosted at community centres throughout the Municipality. Facility upgrades, volunteer training, and accessible programming have expanded opportunities for older residents to stay active, creative, and socially connected.

The 2025–2026 operational funding of $55,000 will build on these successes with expanded digital literacy training, intergenerational partnerships, and pop-up/mobile programming to reach more residents in all corners of the community.

A Partnership that Strengthens the Peninsula

Mayor and Council expressed gratitude for the Province’s ongoing investment, emphasizing that these programs directly align with local priorities of community health, inclusion, and lifelong learning.

“Our seniors are the foundation of our community. The continued support from Minister Cho and the Province ensures we can provide meaningful programs that promote connection, creativity, and well-being across the Peninsula,” said Milt McIver, Mayor of Northern Bruce Peninsula.

The Municipality’s SALC programming is coordinated through partnerships with the Friendship Club and local community centres, with the goal of fostering engagement, reducing isolation, and celebrating the vibrancy of senior life in Northern Bruce Peninsula.
