Beaches, Parks and Trails

Show or hide navigation More

No matter your interest, Northern Bruce Peninsula offers plenty to do whether at the sandy beaches of Lake Huron, the rocky shore beaches of Georgian Bay, the children's playgrounds, the no-leash dog park, the skate park or the magnificent trail systems woven throughout the community. Enjoy our way of life!

 Beaches
For beach enthusiasts, NBP offers you sun and sand at Dunks Bay, Sandy Beach, and Lion's Head Beach. Parks Canada manages Halfway Log Dump Beach, Singing Sands, and Indian Cove Beach, which are located in the Bruce Peninsula National Park. For information regarding the Parks Canada beaches, please contact Parks Canada directly.
 Parks
Parks abound in Northern Bruce Peninsula from the Bruce Peninsula National Park to the Fathom Five National Marine Park to the no-leash dog park and skate park in Tobermory to the Pike Bay community park, baseball diamonds in Ferndale and Tobermory to the passive park areas scattered throughout the community.
 Playgrounds
NBP invites you to bring your children or your grandchildren to one of its Municipal playgrounds located at the Lion's Head beach, Ferndale Park and Information Centre, Stokes Bay Community Centre and Tobermory Community Centre.
 Trails
The Niagara Escarpment is the backbone of the Bruce Peninsula and creates a mosaic of habitats to explore. Hiking trails wind through forest and along the rocky end of NBP's UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve including part of the Bruce Trail, Canada's oldest and longest footpath.

Trails of the Bruce Peninsula National Park include Cyprus Lake Trail, Horse Lake Trail, Halfway Log Dump Trail, Singing Sands Boardwalk and the Forest Beach Loop.

Explore the natural beauty of the Bruce Trail, the Lindsay Tract Trail and the Waterfront Regeneration Trust waterfront trail.

 Lion’s Head Waterfront Revitalization Plan

The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula is pleased to be working with McQueen Galloway Associates (MGA) and GSP to develop Lion’s Head Waterfront Revitalization Plan to guide the future of services and investments for the next 10 years.   The guiding principles to assist in the development of these draft concepts included the following;

  1. Design the waterfront for broad public access, use and enjoyment by the community and visitors.
  2. Provide flexibility in the design and use of waterfront spaces.
  3. Maintain, enhance and restore the natural setting of the waterfront.
  4. Connect waterfront elements and the community.
  5. Provide for universal accessibility and public safety.
  6. Revitalize existing elements found along the waterfront.

For additional information you can contact Peggy Van Mierlo-West, CAO at 519-793-3522 or Tracey McQueen, MGA consultant, at tracey@fjgalloway.ca.
