Do you have a 72 Hour Emergency Kit: Is Your Family Prepared? 
 
If an emergency happens in your community, it may take emergency workers some time to reach you. You should be prepared to take care of yourself and your family for a minimum of 72 hours.
 
What to include in your emergency kit:
 
  • Two litres of water per person per day. Include small bottles that can be carried easily.
  • Food that won't spoil, liked canned goods, energy bars and dried foods. Remember to pack a manual can opener so that you can get into the food.
  • A flashlight.
  • Battery-powered or wind-up radio.
  • Extra batteries.
  • First aid kit.
  • Special needs or health-related items such as prescription medications, infant formula, or equipment for people with disabilities.
  • Extra keys for your car and your house.
  • Cash (especially smaller bills and change for payphones).
  • Your family's emergency plan.
