Notice: Ontario Building Code (OBC) Amendments

Please be advised that, effective January 1, 2022, the Ontario Building Code (OBC) has been amended as it relates to stairs, guards and handrails, referenced in Division B Part 9 of the Code. Please review the Ontario Building Code reference, appendix reference and the slideshow presentation.

Complete Building Permit applications and developer certified models with sitings submitted for OBC review prior to the end of 2021, will be reviewed and processed under the OBC provisions applicable to that time. However, applications received after December 31, 2021, will be reviewed under the new OBC provisions.

These changes may have significant impact to the construction and/or design of proposed projects or buildings. We encourage all applicants, designers and developers to review and implement these updates, as it relates to your project, as soon as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the Building Department, through Olivia Daigle, the Building and Planning Administrative Assistant, at ext. 226 and/or admin@northernbruce.ca.

Thank you for your attention to this notice.

Zoning By-Law
